Crewe and Nantwich Voluntary & Community Sector Forum
Terms of Reference
Forum Aim
- To strengthen and develop the Voluntary and Community Sector in the Borough of Crewe
and Nantwich.
Membership
- Open to any group working in Crewe and Nantwich Borough, from small, self-help groups
to larger voluntary or not-for-profit organisations, regardless of charitable status,
which wishes to be pro-active in contributing to the quality of life in the locality
- Each organisation to have one vote
- he Forum membership will elect at the Autumn Forum 3 delegates to attend the LSP
Coordination Group meetings, representing the interests and views of the Voluntary
and Community Sector
Meetings
- Two meetings per year, dependent on resources being available, other meetings as
necessary or when requested by the membership
- Notes to be taken of meetings and circulated to all members (normally through the
newsletter produced by Voluntary Action)
- Chair to be decided and elected at the Autumn Forum Meeting annually
Administration
- Crewe and Nantwich Voluntary Action will seek resources to provide the administration
of the Forum and will prepare agendas in liaison with the Voluntary and Community
Sector Forum Management Committee

Terms of Reference
Purpose of the Management Committee
The VCSF Management Committee is the steering group of the full Forum, managing the
day-to-day activities of the Forum:
- To promote the interests of the Voluntary and Community Sector in Crewe and Nantwich
Borough
- To enable Voluntary and Community organisations within Crewe and Nantwich to have
improved access to information and news on local developments
- To provide a platform for groups to raise issues and gain mutual support
- To build the capacity of the Voluntary and Community Sector to work together on common
and minority issues and to communicate more effectively with each other and with
other partners
- To promote dialogue and good relationships between the Crewe and Nantwich Borough,
Voluntary and Community Sector and Statutory authorities and to facilitate effective
consultation, action and reporting back
- To provide opportunities to discuss specific issues with the purpose of collecting
the views of the Voluntary and Community Sector, with the aim of gaining consensus
- To share and promote good practice
- To help the Voluntary and Community Sector to know of, contribute to and benefit
from Community Planning and other strategic forums that affect their work
- To form sub-committees to support the development and implementation of local projects
Membership:
- All Forum members can nominate a representative to stand for the Forum Management
Committee, elections will take place at the Autumn Forum annually
- The Forum Management Committee may choose to Co-opt members in between elections,
Co-option will be by majority vote
- Membership from the statutory sector – representatives can be invited to meetings
in order to support and contribute to the Management Committees work
Meetings
- The Forum Management Committee will meet on a regular basis, every 6 – 8 weeks
- Minutes of the meeting will be recorded and circulated to all Forum Management Committee
members
- Meetings will be chaired by the elected chair of the full Voluntary & Community Sector
Forum
Administration
- The Crewe and Nantwich Voluntary and Community Sector Forum Management Committee
is a Standing Committee of Crewe and Nantwich Voluntary Action, with executive authority
to represent the sector
- Crewe and Nantwich Voluntary Action will seek resources for the continuation of the
Voluntary and Community Sector Forum
- All minutes, agendas and other Forum documentation will be produced and circulated
by Crewe & Nantwich Voluntary Action
