Big Lottery award £370,000 to support Crewe and Nantwich Voluntary and Community groups

Crewe and Nantwich Voluntary Action (CNVA) is pleased to announce that it has two new Development Workers in post, offering support on Funding and Volunteering. The new workers are Tracey Langston, Funding Advisor, and Sam Wilkinson, Volunteer Development Worker. Both posts are funded for five years by the Big Lottery Fund. CNVA was awarded the Big Lottery grant of £370,000 earlier this year.

The funding service will carry out funding searches to locate suitable funding sources for groups to apply for, produce newsletters, fact sheets and offer training and support to groups covering areas such as successful funding applications, writing bids and managing contracts. The volunteering service will offer a brokerage service to groups, matching them to suitable volunteers. In addition training and support will also be available on volunteer recruitment, management, retention and volunteer training.

Chief Officer, Wendy Gjerstad, said “I am delighted that CNVA has been successful with this funding application. The grant from the Big Lottery will ensure that voluntary and community groups have access to the support and services that they need. The new workers have been in post since April 7th and are committed to developing a tailor made service, which we hope can meet the needs of every group within the area. The new service couldn’t have come at a better time and I am confident that it will help to strengthen the Voluntary and Community Sector as we move from being three individual boroughs into one new Unitary Authority”.
